Conceived by navigator Kito de Pavant, the first edition of the new Mediterranean ocean set sail on September 29 from Grau du Roi - Port Camargue in France's Occitanie region.
A total of 30 Class 40s (12.19-meter-long monohulls) and Ocean Fifties (15.24-meter-long multihulls) set of LIVE in front of thousands of spectators and amongst hundreds of accompanying boats, the former set out on a course of around 1080 miles, compared with 1500 miles for the faster Class Fifties.
Winners arrived at Saïdia Resorts just a few days later after criss-crossing the Mediterranean, passing through the spectacular Mouths of Bonifacio, the mythical Aeolian Islands, the paradisiacal Balearic archipelago and the charming Zaffarine Islands.
Linking continents... That was the promise of the MED MAX. A journey between two continents, Europe and Africa, two countries, France and Morocco, two regions, Occitanie and Oriental, two towns, Le Grau du Roi and Saïdia.
Let’s now wait for the next edition!
